Wedding Day Details

Yes! You will first need to make your way to the gathering/church area either by using the CarGo app (similar to Uber), taxi, or walking/public transit if you are staying nearby.

Complimentary shuttle transportation will be available for travel to and from the reception. Shuttles will depart from Caffe Klub Zubić at 3:00 PM, and return guests back to the city after midnight. Based on where guests are staying, we will do our best to organize a few drop-off stops around the city on the way back.

If you would like to use the shuttle service, please indicate this in your RSVP so we can ensure your spot is reserved.

Near Caffe Klub Zubić and the Church, you may be able to find street parking (free on Sundays!), along with several public parking lots, including:

At Lipovačka Šuma, a large complimentary parking lot is located directly next to the venue with plenty of space available.

Drivers, please celebrate responsibly and do not drink and drive.

Guests are welcome in formal or cocktail attire.

We kindly ask that you avoid wearing white or ivory as it is reserved for the bride.

Due to venue capacity, we are only able to accommodate guests who are included on your invitation. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.

The church ceremony will take place at the Church of Saint Sava at 1:00 PM.

  • The ceremony will last about 30–45 minutes
  • Guests usually stand during the service (women on the left side and men on the right side)
  • Please silence your phones

After the ceremony, we invite everyone to join us outside for a group photo in front of the Church.

You'll have about an hour to an hour-and-a-half of free time after the ceremony before heading to the reception.

During this time, you'll be standing in front of one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world - have a look around! The Hram is stunning inside (the mosaics took decades to complete), and entry is free.

  • Head downstairs to the crypt — a beautiful underground chapel adorned in gold frescoes
  • Stop by one of the gift shops for an icon or small keepsake to remember your visit
  • Walk over to the small Saint Sava Church next door
  • Stroll through the surrounding parks

Depending on where you are staying, you may also use this time to freshen up.

Please note that there are no restrooms available inside the Church. However, facilities can be found at the National Library next to the church, at Caffe Klub Zubić, and at nearby cafés.

The drive from the church to Lipovačka Šuma is about 30 minutes, so we recommend heading toward the venue at a reasonable time. Our guest shuttle buses will depart at 3:00 PM from Caffe Klub Zubić. The reception venue will be ready to welcome guests after 3:30 PM, and the celebrations will begin at 4:00 PM.

Kolo is a traditional Serbian dance where people join hands in a connected chain and dance together as a group, often forming a large circle. When you see people joining hands and heading to the dance floor, that's your cue to jump in!

Don't worry if you don't know the steps—most people learn by following those around them. Even if you only get it halfway right, you'll fit right in. Just join in and have fun!

Travel & Accommodation

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) is the main international airport and is about a 20–30 minute ride from the city center. We recommend getting to and from the airport using:

Public transit is free! Buses, trams, and trolleybuses all run throughout the city - no ticket needed, just hop on. If you're staying in the city center, many restaurants, bars, and attractions are also within walking distance.

For easy and affordable transportation during your stay, we recommend downloading any of the following apps:

  • CarGo (ride-hailing service similar to Uber)
  • Pink Taxi or Yandex Go (popular services for hailing local taxis)
  • Moovit or Google Maps (when using public transit, these apps will be most helpful)

We've included a list below of hotels offering special rates for our guests. You can also find accommodation through Airbnb or Booking.com. We recommend staying in Vračar, Dorćol, or Stari Grad, which are great central neighborhoods close to the wedding festivities.

If you need specific recommendations, feel free to reach out to us directly.

Belgrade in late summer is usually hot and sunny. Evenings can get cooler and there's always a chance of summer showers, so we recommend bringing a light jacket.

The local currency in Serbia is the Serbian dinar (RSD), though euros (EUR) are sometimes accepted in certain places.

Credit cards are widely accepted, however we recommend carrying some cash for taxis, cafés, and smaller shops. Currency exchange kiosks (MENJACNICA in Serbian) and ATMs are very easy to find throughout the city.

For reference:
100 RSD = ~ 1.00 USD / 1.37 CAD / 0.85 EUR

Although most US and Canadian phone plans work in Serbia, international roaming can be expensive. We recommend purchasing a local SIM for mobile data and using apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Messenger, or FaceTime for calls and messages. If you plan to keep your home number active alongside a local SIM (for texts, verification codes, or WiFi calling), be sure to disable roaming and check with your carrier about international usage.

You can purchase a local eSIM through the MTS Serbia website. We usually opt for the My Prepaid or It's All Cool packages (~$6 and $10), but depending on the duration of your stay and amount of data needed, the Tourist or Super Tourist packages (~$7 and $22) may also suit your needs. Note: The website is a little funky in the sense that, to get these prices, you'll have to toggle English in the top menu instead of pressing the 'Switch to English' button… hope that makes sense!

Alternatively, upon arrival you can purchase a physical SIM card at the airport (in the baggage claim area), or at any street kiosk in the city (look for Moj Kiosk or САМО СЕКУНД).

Serbia uses European-style plugs (Type C and Type F) with 220V electricity.

If you're coming from North America:

  • Bring a European plug adapter
  • Most phone chargers and laptops handle 220V automatically, check the labels
  • Hair dryers and curling irons will need a voltage converter

A few phrases to help you get by:

  • Ćao (CIAO) — Hello / Goodbye
  • Kako si? (KAH-koh see) — How are you?
  • Dobro (DOH-bro) — Good / I'm fine
  • Hvala (HVAH-lah) — Thank you
  • Molim (MOH-leem) — Please / You're welcome
  • Da / Ne (dah / neh) — Yes / No
  • Živeli! (ZHEE-veh-lee) — Cheers! (when toasting)
  • Gde je...? (gdeh yeh) — Where is...?
  • Koliko košta? (KOH-lee-koh KOSH-tah) — How much does it cost?

Don't worry — most younger people speak English!
